Dad update and personal stuff

So it looks like the procedure my dad went through lasted a day and a half. Mum did say it didn't feel as severe as it did before, but his heart is back in A-Fib rather than a regular rhythm. She hasn't talked to the doctor yet because we've got two showings today - one is the couple who looked on Wednesday (they're not even sure they're moving here) and the second is a couple who doesn't know if they can afford the house but want to see it - and Mum's going crazy over those. My dad is off playing bridge today and she said he seemed okay if disappointed because it had seemed like the procedure worked. I guess the doctors screwed up not telling them that it was possible for the heart to revert back after it had shifted into a normal rhythm. I was really happy but was also waiting until his follow-up to be positive that it was going to stick. So now our option is blood thinners to keep him from throwing blood clots. This is a problem because he can start bleeding under his skull again and develop clots there. It means that Mum and I are really going to have to keep an eye on him. Well, if he takes the medicine. It's possible he'll just go on the way he is and run the risk of a stroke. Mum and I were talking when we were cleaning and staging the house before I went to work, so I just don't know at this point.

I had a scary night last night. Nina woke me up about 0300 needing to go to the sandbox. I carried her down to the basement and, while I was standing guard for her - the little punk was in the basement - I started to feel really sick to my stomach. It happens randomly so I went to sit down, that normally help and did a little. Then when I had to pick Nina up to go back up to the bedroom, the nausea got worse and I started to get dizzy. No increased heart rate or breathing, but right after I put Nina down and shut the door behind me, I passed out. Only about ten seconds and luckily I landed on the bed, but still. No clue what caused it or what happened, but I looked up both withdrawl symptoms for Advil and immediate symptoms for natural gas exposure. I figured, since it's been about two weeks, that it's possible I finally hit withdrawl for the Advil I'd been taking for a year but all the reports I read said that it only happens in about 20% of the population who take over 1,200 mg a day for that long. Symptoms reported were headache, back ache, low grade fever. Nothing that matched what happened last night. The reason for the natural gas is that's what our furnace runs on and the sandbox is right next to ours. Nothing matched. It could just be the fibro reacting to a weather system. It could be my natural low BP (it was 93/60 this morning) just acting up, but that doesn't explain the upset stomach. It wasn't my blood sugar, I know what that feels like, and I doubt it was the sandwich I had four hours previous. My food reactions are normally within half an hour of me eating.
So I'm a little short of breath, tired, with a slight upset stomach, but nothing worrying. I just don't know, but really hope it doesn't happen again. I'm not having sandwiches until I'm off shift because I don't want to risk passing out here at work - the floor to my room is cement and that would hurt - just in case it was the bread that caused something to act up in my system. There are many days I hate being delicate.

I'm not planning to update anything today. I might, but I'm in the process of rereading TDC for the final time just because I fear leaving one tiny thread unaccounted for in the whole story arc and want to make sure I have everything done. If you've noticed one please let me know. I'm not to Meeting in Miami, yet, so I'm getting through it at a reasonable rate. I should be back with updates starting tomorrow depending on how I feel.

Oh yikes for both you and your dad. Be careful, ok? I don't want you to crack your head open or anything. *squishy hugs*

Thanks, yeah, I will be. My folks are trying to convince me not to drive right now. There was enough times from the onset of the symptoms to when I passed out that I think I'd be able to pull over.

I second Feihu's yikes!

Be careful! And if you need anything, let me know! I might not be able to be there in person, but I can totally support you from here!

*hugs you tight*

I third!

Could it be a positional thing? Sounds like you were bending down before the incidents, after being prone for a while. Dizziness and nausea go hand and hand with me.

I don't think it is, i was upright both times the nausea started and was able to pick Nina up without bending over because of the stairs I was sitting on. The passing out might have been because I bent over to put her down, but I don't know.

I'm doing better today. There's a weather system that's giving me a headache, but that's pretty par for the course.

Whoa!! And maaannnn!! I was hoping this would fully work for your dad! It sucks that it didn't...

And dude! Talk with your doc - that is...NOT NORMAL. Srsly. Just to keep us all un-worried.

Yeah, we were too. They've got him on blood thinners now, which with his health problems is really not a good thing. Mum and I are both on alert.

Actually, with fibro, it can be. I've been feeling better since it happened but haven't touched the almond butter honey sandwiches I was enjoying before that. Maybe I have to toast the bread first so my system will accept it.

I recall what my doctor said, once upon a time, when we were trying to work out food issues. Eat it, if it makes you sick, don't eat it again. Rather puts me in mind of an old Hee-Haw joke.
"Doc, it hurts when I do this...."
"Then don't do that." (hits him with rubber chicken)
