I went out a took a couple of pics of my street and driveway because, as I said, we haven't had snow like this since 1996. Of course we had floods then too when it all melted. That was not a fun year.
I live in South Texas we had snow like that once in oh twenty or thirty years. I loved the pretty until it melted. Of course all my sun-hardy, drought-resistant plants died of shock. But in retrospect the coolness factor was well worth it - it snowed Christmas Eve and kids got to make snow angels and snowmen for Christmas.
I hope you have a slow steady, not flooding melt and your plants do better than mine.
It sucks to lose plants like that. My mum gardens but everything up here tends to die off around October or goes into hybernation. That's awesome that the kids had snow for Christmas though. I've got family in Mississippi and they always ask how we manage to live with as much snow as we get. I don't know that they every have had a white Christmas. It's gonna flood if the storms keep up like this. I'm on a pretty good hill so we won't be hit but it still sucks.
That's what happens when one lives in the North. :) Missouri is an exception. We get snow when others don't, but mostly we get a dusting while other get buried. Like I've said before here in missouri if you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes and it'll change! :) Missouri is fickle, it is. Yesterday we had a snow flurry in the morning and by evening it was melted, then it started snowing again. We had about 3 inches this morning, about an inch is still hanging around. Can you say Slush? ;)
Yep. Ugh, slush is nasty stuff, especially when it freezes. I think we had a little melt off yesterday but we're back to daytime below freezing so it's probably all ice now. I tend not to go outside in this stuff unless I have to.
