High Stakes notes

Before everyone starts yelling at me for what I'm doing with this fic - and I'm expecting people to be rather upset with how I'm treating Speed at the moment - let me clear up a few things.

Allwyn/Alan/Horatio was born in 970AD and killed/turned by mistake in 1000AD. He's lived ten lives and there is far more to him and his character than the lieutenant in Miami. He is far darker and more evil than his Horatio persona would have everyone believe, but he keeps it hidden from everyone - except his boy - because he feels that his life is his own business. There will be more about his history as the story develops and not just how he came to know Greg House, although that will be the focal point in most of the history chapters.

Greg House was born in 1959 and turned in 1974 when he was thrown down the stairs by his biological father. He remained with his sire, Alan, until 1979 when he entered medical school. The rest of his past is more or less cannon with the show, the most notable exception being that he and Alan remained lovers until Alan bonded with Tim Speedle in 2004.

Tim Speedle was born in 1973 and turned in 2004 after being shot in a jewelry store. At the time of his turning and bonding with Alan - now living under the name of Horatio Caine - he'd known Horatio for three years and they had been dating for two. He was unaware of his lover's true nature until he was shot. He also knows the bare bones of Alan/Horatio's time and relationship with Greg House.

Eric Delko and Ryan Wolfe are also vampires and bonded. More about their story will come out in future chapters. Okay, feel free to rant and rave at me now. *snickers*

im abit dumb.. h was born in 970ad & lived 10 lives..
so counting that 1 life is 100 years, he's a 1000 years old now?

Starting in 1000 when he was turned he's lived ten lives with breaks in-between them. Average lifespan varied depending on the era, anywhere from 40 to 60 years, so about 100 each, yeah.
He's over 1000 years old now. Doesn't he look good for his age. ;)

breaks.. meanin he went into hibernation?

yeah i wont mind jumpin him... even if he slains me after that..

No, just vanished to a safe place for a time, like they do to the Mannor in Sylum. Knowing Horatio, it was probably a library or something very similar.

I don't know how much I'm gonna be going into all of it, but he's lived through so much. Its no wonder he's kinda dark. *grins*
Feb. 5th, 2009 06:32 am (UTC)
through the ages of civilizations, wars etc
yeah it'll make him very dark...

my lab my lab -_- ego..
Feb. 5th, 2009 08:02 am (UTC)

Exceedingly. Its almost scary how much backstory I could do with him. Maybe I will when he get a hold of Wilson. *evil snicker* I mean, he has to have learned it somewhere, right?
Feb. 5th, 2009 08:10 am (UTC)
yeah wilson & house's parents..
although its kinda cruel to 'abuse the elderly'

My my... he looks very good for a 1000 year old...hehe...I've seen 60 year old that looked older... LOL.

Hehe Tiif, either a library or some beach as we know Horatio... isn't it amazing..all the things he has seen..and witnessed...there's such a high potential to explore his past.like wars for example...did he take apart of them...he's a walking museum so to say.

Oh yeah..and don't worry about Speed.. as I told you in the review, I can understand both parties and I'm on H's side. I can't wait to see evil things coming from him...*whistles* A darker H is always very sexy...

Oh and when he talked with Greg...he was so gentle..I was sitting here like "awwww". Can't help myself, sorry, but I still wouldn't mind seeing a...certain scene between Horatio and Greg (the adult) but I'm not sure if Speed would be so cool with it. LOL
Feb. 5th, 2009 03:51 am (UTC)
Oh, isn't he though. *smirk*
Yep, exactly. I don't know if I'll do it here, though. Probably more of an off-shoot story. But I will be looking into his past more. I've already started the next chapter and have Peter - the vampire who turned Horatio ready to be introduced a little.

Speed is going to have a reflections chapter all to himself. This isn't the first time he's been around House.

Oh yeah. *fans self* He was dark in the episode this week. Oh man, he scares me when he does that, but its so hot too.

I'll consider it. I really do think it would help Greg feel better about himself, but I don't know if Horatio would cheat on Speed. Maybe I could do their last time together before Speed was shot and turned. That could work.

This would be great. Backstory is always very nice. Peter, huh? Hmm, I can't wait for that. :)

Yeah, I guess that's what Speed needs. I mean I can totally understand his behaviour..he loves H...and he's not stupid, he knows that Horatio loves House too...in some way... and with House in the house...plus finding out that his lover is a "molester" in his eyes...that's a nice combination.

I'm sure that Greg would feel better after..well comfort sex with Horatio, since H is the only one he trusts and feels safe with. But yeah, Speed is a problem. But let's face it, the fact that H loves Greg..and calls him love...kisses his temple is already a vague type of cheating. We have to be honest here. I really don't want to split H and Speed (and due to the bonding it's nearly impossible anyway) but what I think is, that such a comfort scene would be very nice. In a way it's not about the act itself, but more about Horatio trying everything to make his child, his lover, his friend feeling better. It's really a little bit complicated with this "threesome". Hmm...

Yep, Peter. First name that came to mind. *grin*

Speed is going to have issues for a while, probably years, but I won't drag the fic out that long. Maybe a sequel or something. Just what I need, huh. :)

You're right enough, but I really don't want to have H cheat on Speed. You'll see here soon that Speed knows what H calls Greg and how he interacts with him and that's part of the problem, deep down. But I'll see what I can come up with. Who knows, maybe the darker Horatio would sleep with Greg in spite of the bond.

I loved the updates to both High Stakes and Redhead.... Horatio is semi vunerable in Redhead and so strong in High Stakes. I love the Dichotomy. You write both Horatio's very well. I can't wait for more.

Thanks so much. I can identify with Horatio so well that I find him really easy to write, no matter which role he's in. But I'm curious to see if I can actually write dark Horatio.

Nice update.

**Cracking wip at bunies**

get to work.

Seriously I can't wait till the next chapters. I want to know how Eric Delko and Ryan Wolf tie into this whole thing.

Dark Haaratio Caine. Drool.

*glances at bunnies*
I actually do have part of the next chapter written. I'll get back to it this weekend and hopefully post middle of next week. I'd like to have a couple, if not three chapters to post at a time.

Your great
I didn't think I was going to start reading another one of your wonderful stories till it was finished but well I am hooked. This is going to be a great story and I am enjoying it as much as I enjoy your other on-going stories. Keep them coming please.

Re: Your great
Thanks so much. I tell myself the same thing with my favorite authors, but I always start reading their WIPs anyway.
