character rant

Every author/writer out there will know what I'm talking about here because I'm sure its happened to you at least once. Ever since I started writing about Tiff and her twin sister Lexxie I've had this creepy ME around. He's completely pale, likes the night, makes no noise as he moves about etc. You know the type. *Grin* So I decided as Tiff and Lexxie are never going to be published I'd go ahead and swipe the ME, make a few adjustments to him and stick him into the dragon novels I'm working on.

He decided that he wanted to be a vampire.
*headdesk*

A real vampire, not just someone who looks like a vampire. So now I guess I have a vampire running around the dragon world I'm creating for the novels. At least its in the second one and not the first which means there's time to develop him a little more. And work out if dragons and vampires are enemies or friends. Or just tolerate each other. Or maybe don't even know about each other. At least my sister writes vampire fiction - hopefully soon to be published - and can help me navigate the world of the vampires that's in fiction and fantasy now.

Well, you've got dragons and, thanks to the addition of SG, you've got aliens (I personally would love it if John Sheppard turned out to be a dragon). And Supernatural, if I'm not mistaken, has vampires not of the Buffy/Angel variety. Would he work in that context?

Random thought: Warrick's death deserves a mention in the I Swear series, don't you think?

Nope, because this is a novel rather than fan fiction.

I've never seen SGA so I'm not sure which one Sheppard is. *ducks head*

Most likely. I'll see what I can do. :)

My userpic should now be John Sheppard.

And there are all sorts of legends about vampires from virtually every culture. I'm sure you can find or splice something that would work for your novel.

Well, I at least recognize him. *Grins*

True enough. I'm gonna start digging around as soon as school is out for the term.

Mercedes Lackey and Tanya Huff have some entertaining books out starring vamps, if you're interested.

I've got to get through season s 9 and 10 of SG-1 and then I'll see about going onto SGA.

There are so many different types of vampire lore out there, in almost every culture. You should be able to find something that will fit with your universe. Most fiction tends to concentrate on the Eastern European lore and of course, Bram Stoker did a lot for the legend with his novel.

Sometimes the characters do what they want and you don't have a lot of control over them. :)

I have a dragon community in Carpathia Romania so that'll probably be where my vampires will be from as well. It just kinda took me by surprise because its been a long time since I've had a character pull something like this. :)
