characters

To all my writing friends - have you ever had a character refuse to let you write a damn thing until you do things his or her way??? While my first novel is in peer editing - nerve-wracking, btw - I decided it would be a good idea to at least get a rough draft of the second novel going. For my main character, Leigh, I had picked another lab tech named Chad to be her future boyfriend. He's kinda surfer boy, maybe a little like Greggo in looks, but not personality. I couldn't get a damn thing to work out.
So I offered her Charlie's older twin brother, Brandon, for her boyfriend/husband, because she's going to have to be married here soon or her father is going to have a heart attack. *Grins* Something about spending eternity alone and all that stuff.
This is how I picture Brandon. Kind of a mix between these two guys, with most of the focus on the first.

Shindo Gaku

Furukawa Yuuta

I now have writer's cramp and about 25 pages written with ideas coming like there's no tomorrow. I guess she really likes this guy. Who am I to argue???

Never, ever let it be said characters are not alive. They totally are.

Maybe not 25 pages worth but I have had characters take the story in a different direction, sitting down with an idea in my head and ending up with something unexpected.

I've had that happen too. *grins* And it always seems like the story is better for it too. But I've never had a character totally block the whole story for two months like Leigh just did.

He's their lovechild \(-^-)/ ermmm.. *cough* o(////)o Anyway.....
I know what you mean. A character can, if one let 'em, decide what'll come out on the paper..

Why do I get an image in my head, aort of, of Brandon? *thinks* Hmm...
When I decide how my characters look, I usually draw scetches of them on papers, until I'm satisfied. People do it differently, I suppose.

rotflol.

I've learned to let them. It always seems to be better than what I had in mind, at least in my novel writing. I try to keep control of the fan fiction pieces. Strong emphasis on try, of course.

He honestly looks a lot more like Shindo-san than I originally planned. But, then again, as I totally love him, it's not surprising. *grins* A friend of mine at work said I need to go to Japan just to meet these guys. I wanted to smack her.

I wish I could draw. That's one talent that escapes me, but I always say I paint a portrait with the words on the paper.

Yeah, try is a keyword there.. It's not easy to control them if they decide what happens next..

Pft, is that so?^^ I'm sure he don't mind, though.
That wouldn't be very easy, considering they're celebs and all... If it were me, I probably would've smacked her. (has very short temper)

I've practiced for years, and I'm finally starting to think I can do it somewhat. I'm not too good though.. Though yesterday, I drew a Kirikaze with ...14..a lot..of legs...Completely not my fault, though. ^^;;; Though he got weird, he don't look too bad..probably...hopefully..maybe a bit laughable...errr.. *posts another picture to journal*

I'll have to let you read a little of my golden trio (aka the main characters) when they really get going. I always let them go, but I don't use a lot of it. ;)

If I smacked every single person at work that I wanted to, my hand would fall off. *Grins* I've learned to just let most of it just go. Not all of it, and I have the rep to back it up, but most of it. I would love to get a chance to meet some of these guys, but that's totally a dream. Then again, I not only got to meet my favorite music group in the whole world, but now count them as friends, so who knows what life throws our way, ne?

I love Kirikaze's legs. *fans self* Especially in the behind the scenes where Yuuta is practicing his song and he looks like he's all legs. I guess I really just don't have the patience for drawing. My mum is an outstanding artist even if she never does anything. I should take some pics of the kitchen she designed for the house and post them on here. It's so cool.

Oh, really? Well, if one let them just get going, it can add at least some to the story, otherwise, it can become some sort of bonus, or something..

Maybe...I'm happy that I hang out with people I like, and that're a lot like me, but still different. I think I wouldn't manage without those idiots<3 But there is people who just won't learn and leave us alone, they just bug us all the time.. *frown*
Well, dreams are allowed. I dream of meeting them as well.
You met your favorite music group? Really? Awesome~~<33 I got to meet some of my cosplay-idols, who're now my friends.^^

His leg're amazing~ so long~ *is jealous*
Wha-really? I don't think I've seen that. Could you show me~~?
You should do that, maybe^^ (random: oh, I wanna paint a picture as big as a whole wa~~ll~~ *drools* Something childish~~)

Yeah, it's totally true. I've learned not to stop them, but cut it back when I re-write. The characters are Leigh (main) Alex (dragon) and Charlie (human) and now that I've added Brandon into the mix, it's just getting worse.

It's nice to have friends that understand - or at least pretend to - you. Yes, I have a few of those at work. But I also have my best friend, Ro, and she's really the only one I hang out with. I'm not really a social person, too bookish maybe. I dunno, I've never done well with people.

Let me think, it's been 15 years since I first met them (showing my age here) and about 13 that I've counted them as friends. I need to go and see them in concert again if they come out my way.
oh, that's so awesome. Like I said, just getting into cosplay, so still some nerves. Ro and I are going to a cosplay fashion show next week, just to go. They won't let pre-bought/made costumes into the show. they have to be home made. suckage. But it'll still be fun to see what's what, and I'll get to see her sister and her family while we're up there too.

Yeah, let me take a look at the dvd again and I'll let you know when I send you those music links.
Oh, btw, I just figured this out. i was being a baka. the guy I love on Prince of Tennis - niou - is played by Nakagauchi Masataka and I didn't know he was in 2! steps with Furukawa-kun and Shindo-san.

*stares off into space* drawing on a wall. fun time. *grins*

I can imagine. It just goes that way, don't it. They sort of dominate everything all by themselves.

It is. *nods* A few is enough, it don't have to be that many. The one who gets me the best is my sister. Me too, I've always been somewhat of a lonewolf.

Oh~~<3
Yea, I know exactly how you feel. It really is nervous.
They want it to be fair game. I think it's sort of a rule for all conventions. It wouldn't be fair to those who've sewn their own clothes if people who bought theirs made by pro's at internet were allowed into the contests. It's just how it is. I suppose our group's really lucky to have someone who's really talented in sewing. Sis can make really increadible costumes.<33

Alright~~
Nakaguchi~~ That was what his name was~ I forgot that. So you've seen 2steps? I love that movie~^^

Uhu~ I'm so going to do that in the future. I'm currnetly trying to convince my dad to let me paint the ceiling in my room, since I think plaing white's so boring, and I took down the posters I had there. They're now only on the walls.

Ah, right. I've watched the Prince of Tennis live-movie, and some animé-ova's, with sis, the other day. I like it a lot~~<333

Just saw in an older comment about your dragon collection. I LOVE dragons. Obviously, that's the whole epic fic as well as the novel. But I have a collection going as well. Have to keep the cats away from it, one managed to break a pewter statue once. Still don't know how she did that, but thank heavens for super-glue. :)

It's still going to be fun to go though. I'm really looking forward to a night away from work where my night shift guy (who is also my second in command) will be able to handle any problems that come up. The downside to being the supervisor is all the problems for your department get dumped in your lap. Ro even invited her sister and her family - including the almost two year old niece - to come along and they agreed. The sister isn't sure what to think about anime, but I get the feeling she thinks it's like a cult or something. So we'll see how the evening actually goes.

I'm just really excited, too, about being able to dress up in a month or so. *grins* It's gonna be sooooo cool.

I haven't seen 2!steps, but I really want to. youtube's version sucks big time and I haven't had the money to buy it. But with three guys I love in there, I'm definitely going to get it soon. Have you heard the soundtrack for it? Now that's a cool CD.

Plain white is so blah. lol. It would drive me up the walls. *glances at ceiling* Of course my mum painted my room when I moved out and didn't let me repaint when I moved back in so I do have a white ceiling, but blue-ish walls so it isn't too bad. Plus anime and live action pics pretty much cover everything anyway. There are days I know my mum thinks I'm a teenager. ;) Good luck convincing him of that.

Isn't it awesome?? I still love dream live 4th the best, but that's just because of how many actors are in there from other shows I like. I did find another Fuma actor in a POT musical though. Byakko. I was looking at this guy and wondering why he looked so familiar and about fell out of my chair when I switched to the backstage. Now THOSE are funny. I love the backstage bits for anything, but these guys just have so much fun. I really love san-ni-ichi (as Ro and I call them).
